Delete Your Account
Learn how to request deletion of your Capturly account and what data is affected.
Important Information
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Before proceeding, please ensure you have exported any data you wish to keep. Your local recordings on your devices will not be affected by account deletion.
Who This Applies To
This page is for Capturly Pro users who have created an account to access premium features including online collaboration features.
Free users without an account: If you use Capturly without signing in, no personal data is stored on our servers. Simply uninstall the app to remove all local data from your device.
How to Request Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your Capturly account using any of the following methods:
1Via Email (Recommended)
Send an email to privacy@capturly.app with the subject line "Account Deletion Request".
Include the email address associated with your Capturly account.
2Via Account Settings
Log in to your account at capturly.app/account/settings and select "Delete Account" at the bottom of the page.
3Via Contact Form
Submit a deletion request through our contact page with "Account Deletion" as the subject.
Data That Will Be Deleted
When you request account deletion, the following data will be permanently removed from our servers:
- Your account profile (email address, name, profile information)
- Authentication credentials and login sessions
- Subscription and billing history
- License keys associated with your account
- App preferences and settings synced to your account
- Usage analytics tied to your account
- Support tickets and communication history
- Any WebRTC session metadata from online collaboration features
Data That Is NOT Affected
The following data is stored locally on your device and is not affected by account deletion:
- Audio and video recordings – All recordings are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers
- Local app settings – Device-specific preferences stored on your computer or mobile device
- Exported files – Any files you have exported or saved to your local storage
To remove local data, uninstall the Capturly app from your device.
Data Retention Period
- Account data: Deleted within 30 days of your request being processed
- Backup systems: Data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being permanently purged
- Legal obligations: Certain financial records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by tax and accounting regulations
- Anonymized analytics: Aggregated, non-identifiable usage statistics may be retained indefinitely for product improvement
Processing Time
We aim to process all account deletion requests within the following timeframes:
- Acknowledgment: Within 48 hours of receiving your request
- Account deactivation: Within 7 days
- Complete data deletion: Within 30 days
You will receive email confirmation once your account has been deleted.
Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right to Access (Art. 15): Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Right to Rectification (Art. 16): Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Right to Erasure (Art. 17): Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to Data Portability (Art. 20): Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Right to Object (Art. 21): Object to processing of your personal data for certain purposes
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

Before You Delete
Before requesting account deletion, please consider:
- Active subscription: If you have an active Pro subscription, it will be cancelled. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.
- License keys: Any license keys associated with your account will be deactivated and cannot be recovered.
- Local recordings: Your recordings are safe on your device, but ensure you've backed up any important files before uninstalling the app.
- Re-registration: You may create a new account in the future, but your previous data and subscription history cannot be restored.
